Temple of Belonging: Manos De Mujeres

Year after year, Kaffae seeks a unique and delicious coffee offering for the Temple of Belonging

“The Temple of Belonging is a celebration of womanhood in all its forms. It is a space fully dedicated to illuminating the many gifts of sisterhood, of sweetness, and of remembering what it feels like to come home to each other” (Source: Temple of Belonging - Gathering Details).

This year, Kaffae roasted Manos De Mujeres for the 2025 ToB. 

In 2000, seven producers resisted mainstream agricultural trends and formed Fundación Agraria y Ambiental Para el Desarrollo Sostentible (FUDAM) to protect and spread environmentally conscious farming. When asked why the group continues to farm organically, despite mounting pressure to rely on chemical inputs, the association’s leadership explained, “This is just how we live. These are our values and our way of life.” Through their longtime coffee-growing practices, they feel a connection to their ancestors. Maintaining the methods handed down is not only a tribute to past generations but is sustainable for the generations yet to come.

The coffee Kaffae found for the 2025 Temple of Belonging comes from Manos de Mujeres. The Manos de Mujeres are FUDAM’s women coffee-producers, their coffees are separated out and sold with a premium which is distributed directly to the women for the benefit of their farms and households. When FUDAM was first founded, the group met once a week for drinks and conversation, learning from each other. The association is both Organic and Rainforest Alliance-certified. FUDAM cares for its members and their communities. It holds agricultural training, advocates for women’s and children’s rights through programs, and supports non-violence initiatives.
